Privacy-first budget app without bank connection
A budget tracker that never asks for your bank login, card number or account number. Manual entry, offline-first, end-to-end sync when you choose to sign in.
Why a dedicated budget
Bank-aggregation apps (Mint, YNAB, Monarch, Copilot, Bankin', Linxo) ask for your bank credentials and pull transactions via Plaid or an equivalent aggregator. Outside the US/EU that often doesn't work (Attijari, CIH, Banque Populaire, Al Rajhi, Emirates NBD…) and it always means sharing access to your accounts with a third party. SmartJib is built the other way: you enter transactions yourself, your data is cached locally and synced to Firebase with per-workspace security rules.
How SmartJib helps
- No bank login, card or account number ever requested.
- Works everywhere: Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Egypt, UAE, Saudi Arabia, France, UK, USA, Canada, Switzerland, West Africa (XOF).
- Offline-first: entries are cached in IndexedDB and sync when you're online.
- 12 currencies and four budgeting methods (50/30/20, zero-based, envelopes, pay-yourself-first).
- Bank/home/wallet separation — cash withdrawals are transfers, not expenses.
- CSV/JSON export and permanent account deletion.
Frequently asked questions
Is manual entry tedious?
It takes roughly 5–10 seconds per expense and replaces the end-of-week reconciliation exercise that most bank-sync users still do anyway to fix categorization errors. The friction is also the privacy guarantee.
Do banks allow screen-scraping in my country?
Many MENA and African banks block screen-scraping and OAuth APIs for personal finance apps, so bank-sync apps simply don't work there. Manual entry works everywhere.
Can I still import transactions?
Bulk CSV import is available in Pro. Many banks let you export CSVs of recent transactions which you can then import.
